Site Map

Site maps show how content and functionality are organized across the site/application and indicate how the major areas will be labeled. They are useful for encouraging discussions among the design team regarding the organization and management of content and, in combination with User Scenarios, ensure desired pathways exist for targeted audiences.

Often times I'll mix in some system logic to help clarify when certain pages appear. Color coding can also be used to show password protected screens and functionality that will be developed in a future project phase. In this example, the small icons indicate whether pages include forms or have dynamic content.
